Deworming 2013-2014
Before the initiation of the programme, several consultative meetings were held with the community to ensure that they took ownership of the project. The communities in both states agreed to support each child’s participation in the programme with N50/week in Enugu and N100/week in Anambra. They opened bank accounts and agreed on members of the community who would manage these funds. Health assessment and interventions include: (a) examination of over 700 pupils by a medical team and provision of free treatment to over 70% of them for skin, ear, nose and throat (ENT) infections and (b) deworming of pupils once a year with free Albendazole/Mebendazole tablets from the World Health Organization through Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH).
